Flower Guild
The Flower Guild of Holy Cross is a group of parishioners who love flowers, flower arranging, and Holy Cross church. A member of our Guild arranges flowers each week for our Sunday services.
We work closely with the Altar Guild on Easter, Christmas, the Bishop’s visit and all special occasions to make our church beautiful to the glory of God. We meet annually, as a group, for fellowship and to share designing techniques. If you have a gift of floral design or a love for this ministry, come join us.
-
Altar Guild
This dedicated group of members make sure worship at Holy Cross runs smoothly and we are very thankful for their service. Altar guild is a wonderful way to learn more about the sanctuary and our liturgy throughout the year.
-
Acolytes & Lectors
Parishioners serve each Sunday as Acolytes and Lectors during our worship services. If you are interested in serving, contact Deacon Susan Southwick to get plugged in.
-
Choir
The Choir is an integral part of worship
and we always welcome new members.
Choir practice takes place on Wednesday at 6:30pm and Sunday at 9am.
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care at Holy Cross is composed of a dedicated group of faithful folks that serve on the Prayer Team, the Meal Team, or the Card Team.
-
The Prayer Team currently consists of 29 members. Email updates are sent to the team as prayer requests are needed for our Holy Cross parishioners. A complete list of all prayer requests is found in our weekly church bulletin. Team members are asked to pray daily for all the people on the prayer list.
Parishioners are encouraged to alert the church staff when they are scheduled for surgery or having serious medical issues and would like to be placed on the prayer list. Anyone may request prayers for someone who needs our prayers. If a parishioner would like a call or visit from our priest, please notify the church office and one will gladly be arranged.
-
The Meal Team ministry consists of 4 teams with 4 members on each team. A meal is offered to parishioners after hospitalizations, serious illnesses, or following the death of a family member. The team is often called upon to help meet parishioner’s needs. This might be a ride to a doctor’s appointment, running errands, or a phone call or visit to check on parishioners and offer encouragement.
-
The Card Team consists of a faithful group of ladies who remember parishioners by sending handwritten cards. Charlotte Scarborough sends birthday cards to each Holy Cross member on their special day. Sue Peterson sends get well and sympathy cards to folks as needed.

Coffee Hour
Please join us immediately after the 10:15 a.m. service in the Genesis Room for coffee and refreshments. This is a Holy Cross favorite and a wonderful way to get to know one another. To volunteer as a coffee hour hostess please sign up in the Genesis Room.
-
Episcopal Church Women (ECW)
Holy Cross ECW meets on the 3rd Sunday of each month in the Genesis Room, after the 10:15 a.m. service. All women of the church are welcome and encouraged to join us.
-
Episcopal Youth Community (EYC)
We are always looking for ways to engage our youth in the life of the parish. We periodically offer a children’s service, have Youth Sunday to celebrate graduates each year, and invite the youth to participate in worship every Sunday. We also encourage our youth to keep up with the events offered through the diocese. Click the link below for more information on their events.

Ladies Night Out
The women of Holy Cross meet every month on the fourth Thursday, for fellowship and fun. It could be a local restaurant or sometimes it is held at the church.
Gatherings at the church might include Bunko, cards, or a craft project. When meeting at church, everyone brings a dish to share, or we have dinner catered. The primary goal of this group is fun, fellowship, and food, and we never fall short. The more the merrier, so bring a friend!
Email Karen Mann for more information.
-
Knitting Group
Holy Cross has a knitting group consisting of 6-9 women who meet every Monday evening from 6-8. Our primary goal is to knit/crochet prayer shawls. We also work on personal projects that include quilting, count cross stitch and other crafts. Newcomers welcome!
Email Camille Turner for more information.

Landscaping Committee
Several years ago, a group of Holy Cross’s gardening ladies met to formulate a landscaping plan for the church grounds. Since then, these ladies have worked diligently to improve and maintain the church grounds. Some helpful men have joined in this ongoing effort. We are proud to say that we won Second Place in the Business Category of the Trussville Beautification Awards in 2021.
Email Laurie Nabors to get involved.
